So, at my tech-y workshop this week, I have been working on my Moodle site. This is kinda a webpage-like thing for my school kids. It could be very cool to use, if my kids use it. I guess I'll find out how many of them have home access to the internet once the school year starts. We also learned about SmartBoards. These are expensive white board looking devices. You project your computer onto the board and the board becomes a touch space. You can "draw" on it with your finger or a faux marker. You can move things by touch and drag. It is really neat. It also costs about $1500 easily, so we'll see when that happens :)
In addition, I was talking to a guy beside me yesterday and he said his wife had turned her blog into a book for them. He gave me the website (www.blurb.com) to go to. Apparently, you download their free software, download (upload?) your blog onto this, and then work on formatting your pics and text. You can then have it printed and bound. I wondered if this could be done with our Colorado blogspot year. I already printed tons of pictures, but it would be cool to get our actual blog writing into a hard copy. This may be a new project for the summer. I thought this may be something fun for life in general if you kept up with a blog and added all the pictures you wanted. You could basically have a yearbook of each year of your life - or just events. You can also create all text or all picture books, poetry books, cookbooks, etc. You can also buy books other people have made - kinda pricey to buy others' stuff, but they would make unique gifts. It is fun to just preview all the stuff on the site. If you are bored, you can get lost for awhile on this site. At any rate, just thought I would share. Enjoy!
Jeremy is at Cedar Point with the junior high youth today. It was raining today when I drove to my workshop. Hopefully, it will not rain on them (or be lightening) all day.
