So, we have been busy since February 10th (my last blog). Some of it was just daily life; some was getting prepped for a unexpected vacation opportunity; some was having company. So, here is enough to catalog our life. I will post our pics from our vacations later (hopefully before April).
Valentine’s Day – We always like to celebrate this one. I try to prepare a nice meal and sometimes we add decorations or get dressed up for the occasion. Jeremy gave each of us a rose to enjoy this year. We had steak, baked potatoes, and roasted vegetables for supper.
Gymnastics – The girls switched from ballet to gymnastics. We tried out Wooster YMCA this time. It was a huge facility, and the program seemed pretty good. The girls had a great time. The bounced on trampolines, jumped off springboards, sommersaulted both directions, did cartwheels, hung from and flipped around uneven bars, and walked on various heights of balance beams.
Skiing – Jeremy and I took a ski weekend to Peak n Peek in New York. The girls hung out with Luke, Steph, Sam, and Lilli while we were away. It was good to get away together again. I think this is a needed part of marriage, but so easily neglected.
Weather – It has been up and down. Snow, sun, rain, wintery mix, and repeat. We had a rare sunshiny day early March and I sent the girls outside. It was still a bit chillly, but they made good effort to create a summertime experience.
Brokaws from Columbus – Mike and Anja came our way with their three kids early March for the weekend. We have kinda formed an annual tradition of going to each other’s homes. It has been a good time for all of us – a mini vacation to enjoy friends and build friendships. We hung out Friday night briefly, played at Putt n Stuff indoor playground Saturday, went to my “old” SYF gathering that evening, went to church Sunday morning, and checked out some fun baby goats before they headed back home.
Sewing – Madison is continuing to sew with Johanna on (most) Monday nights. She has made a pillow and a hot pad. She is going to work on a second hot pad and a skirt for herself in the future. We also invested in a small sewing machine for her to use at home. This was a more stressful decision than I thought it would be. We finally picked this sewing machine. While it hasn’t been well-tested so far, it seems like a good starter choice for her.
Megan – Megan (my neice) came for a night early March while her parents were in Rome. It was fun to have her here. They all played well together. They played Legos, babies, school, baking in the EZ bake oven, and with those baby goats.
