Going Out

Ellie has started volunteering at Stirrup Courage as she is able.  This last session, she was able to work alongside participants to groom horses and then led the horses in the ring.  She really enjoyed this.  It feels a bit strange dropping her off – almost like she has a job, which is what it is in a lot of ways.

We attended the 4-H banquet this year for Ellie to receive recognition for her Clock Trophy Award from state fair.  It is good food served, and now we know what we are in for.  We had a little fun with the phone camera at the end of the night too.

Tracy (Sandy’s sister) gave Jeremy two free Cavs tickets for a game over Thanksgiving weekend.  I deferred since it was the night before school started and I just couldn’t do it.  Ellie was up for it though.  (Plus, she argued, she could pick up some basketball pointers for when she played.)  They had a good night in some pretty good seats.

The girls, Grandma Yoh, and I went to listen to author and illustrator, Jan Brett, speak at the OARDC.  It wasn’t entertaining/funny, but it was interesting to learn about how she researches and creates her stories.  She also showed us how she drew the main character of one of her books.  Sandy was also there.  And there was the Hedgehog that appears in Jan Brett’s books.  So, we took a picture.

I had given Jeremy tickets to go see Nate Bargatze in the Be Funny tour at Playhouse Square.  The man is hilarious and his stand-up show did not disappoint.  We laughed so hard, we thought we might throw up.  Just couldn’t stop.  We left on Saturday afternoon to go up.  We enjoyed supper out before the show (which didn’t start til 9:30!).  Then, we stayed overnight to make a a date of it.  It was good to get away and hang out together.

Madison went to her first dance of 8th grade.  We had found a beautiful dress just right for this occasion while out shopping one time.  She was beautiful.
