This was our last day in Minneapolis, which meant that we needed to pack up and head to the airport by a certain time. Thankfully, that time wasn’t until 1ish. The girls wanted one more shot at the swimming pool. Jeremy took them down while I showered and started the packing process. Then, I went down for the last 20 minutes of swimming so he could go shower. The girls followed and began packing their things. We met up with Gloria and drove off to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.
I had been before, but I wanted to take the girls. Madison wanted to go. She asked if there was a Louise Nevelson sculputre there.. This is the artist they have been learning about in art. Ellie followed it up with wondering if there was another artist there (this one’s name escapes me). I looked it up, and there was a Nevelson! We definitely had to go now. Thankfully, the weather cooperated, and it was a beautiful day!
We saw some of the iconic sculptures – Spoonbridge and Cherry, Pendulum, and Blue Rooster.
We also saw “Alexa” – you know that electronic device by Amazon you talk to? I think it bears a striking resemblance. It even has “Alexa” inside of it!
We posed with a few other sculptures.
I found the sculpture I rested on when Sandy and I visited the Garden years ago. She made fun of me that trip because I thought it was “just a bench.” But, really, it is just a bench with a name, Six Crystals.
And we tracked down Louise Nevelson, Dawn Tree, for Madison.
We left on time for the airport with happy girls and happy hearts.
