And we continue on our Advent journey…
Day 14 – Create a virtual caroling video. We had to do two takes this year to get it just right, but I think it is a winner. We even dressed in our Christmas sweaters.
Day 15 – Wrap Gifts. I like this day because it saves me from wrapping gifts for the cousins. It also gives the girls a chance to learn how to wrap gifts. Ellie had helped Grandma Yoh wrap gifts on Saturday, so she brought some tips to give us.
Day 16 – Scavenger Hunt. This was a new addition this year that I found on Pinterest. They had a lot of fun scurrying around the house to find the clues that Jeremy had hid while we were at basketball practice. At the end, they each unwrapped an ornament for the tree.
Day 17 – Stuff and Stamp Christmas Cards. Really, we don’t send cards anymore… I think this was a money saving move. Now we send a newsy letter with a photo of our family. The process goes pretty quickly with three of us working. And they actually enjoy it.
As a bonus, I enjoy the return of cards/pictures from many people to hang on my card ribbon during the year. It lifts my spirits to see faces from all different times in our lives.
Day 18 – Unwrap a cozy surprise. The girls usually get some jammies for Christmas, but this year, Madison mentioned that it would be nice to get them before Christmas so they could wear them to school on pj day the day before break. (The elementary works together to earn this by donating 200 pajamas.)
Day 19 – Choose a gift for your teacher. This year they chose for their Sunday school teachers because we had already gifted some cookies to their classroom teachers. To do this, they look through all the non-profit magazines we receive from Heifer International, Compassion International, World Vision, etc. Madison chose to donate some ducks. Ellie chose vaccinations.
Day 20 – Take a bubble bath. This was another new addition to the calendar this year. This one actually got pushed back to Sunday. We went to a bonus night of Ediger hang out time pre-Christmas. So, tonight, the girls spent an hour hanging out in a bubble bath with bubble that transformed them to “old ladies and babies at the same time!” Their words, not mine, to describe their wrinkled hands and baby-soft skin.
Day 21 – Celebrate Christmas with the Edigers. I’ll post about this one later.
Day 22 – Catch up on Advent Calendar. This was a last minute shift, but it worked well. We were going to use today to finally deliver soup, but when I checked with two of our neighbors at church they were going to be away today. So, we picked teacher gifts and took a bubble bath instead!
And that is another week… and almost the end of the Advent season … in the books.
