Our Ediger family vacation was scheduled for March 2020…. we all know what happened in 2020. So, it was put off until this June. Mom found a great cabin that would sleep 22; there are 20 of us. It was located about 15 miles from Hocking Hills trails, but you tend to have to drive to get to the trailheads anyway.
We met on Monday late afternoon and left on Thursday late morning. In between then, we had a lot of fun.

I had a hard time knowing how to chunk this out. There were a lot of pictures, and they weren’t always in order when I looked at them. So, I am not doing this by hikes (although that would have been cool), I am just doing sweeping categories. Hopefully, the pictures won’t get redundant.
Song and Dance
Not exactly what the Edigers are known for, but I would say we held our own on Monday night.

Some just watched what was going on

Hiking
A little more up our alley as a family bunch. We did two short hikes on Tuesday; dad came along on both of them. We saw Rock House and did Cantwell Cliffs. Both pretty cool hikes to go on with good scenery along the hike. On Wednesday, we set off earlier in the morning and went to Old Man’s Cave and took the connector trail to Cedar Falls. These are both great destinations as well as a scenic connector – flat lands and steep inclines. Mom’s depth perception was a bit off due to her eye surgery. So, she had extra coaching by the grandkids along the way. Thankfully, no bad falls.

There was also a lot of posed pictures because who can resist the backgrounds!

And some artistic ones.

Games We Play
Mom and dad bought the game Cross Net for us to try. Since there are a number of us a bit encumbered by physical disablements, this was a good replacement for full on volleyball (which was also set up, but never used).

We did a great job wearing out the grass in the four squares!

We also played some cornhole. Cale and Paxon worked on perfecting the backflip. Ben and Luke created a game no one wants to play with the Velcro pads and ball. There was ping pong and pool in the basement of the house as well.

Hot Tub Fun
The hot tub was a hot place to be – literally! The kids enjoyed short bursts of it.

On the last day, it was discovered that (based on some scientific trial and error) that if you stood on the brick underlay barefooted and put a fairly fresh wound/cut into the hot tub, you would get a shock – literally. It didn’t work with your feet on the gravel. It didn’t work with a scabbed over wound. It didn’t work if you had rubber soles on. Most everyone tried it; some even made new cuts just to try it. I did not; I took others’ word for it.
Other Fun
The boys enjoyed exploring the stream that ran along the road. They found a snake that looked a lot like a copperhead – but wasn’t. They raced the clock to get back on time when they were given a time. And they had stories to tell. It was a fun spot for them to be.

Puzzles consumed some people (in a good way). They could do this while enjoying the conversation that was floating around them. Steph, Jen, and Chloe were the masterminds behind most of them…. sometimes working until 2 in the morning!

Family Pictures
We tried a number of locations for a big group photo. Most of them turned out pretty well. We love the shirts mom and dad got for us, but realized that we are pretty camouflaged in the pictures as well. Next time, we will go with neon so we stand out!

There were many more pictures, more videos, and more memories. But this is us. We can usually talk about anything, laugh about everything, and joke about most things (maybe not ice cream…). We eat a lot, play a lot, and stick together. It is a good time. Thanks, Mom and Dad, for continuing to provide times to make memories
